The story of Habito

"This way of operating, this language we practise and progressively refine in our workshop, is part of the great language of humanism that every individual can find within: implementing this in our work and our life is a pleasure that's always new".

The poetic
space

Little more than thirty years old and already a renowned sculptor, Giuseppe Rivadossi discovered the space of everyday living, the space inside a home or a city, to be the most excellent place for communication and poetry. He therefore devoted himself to this space, taking on the challenge of restoring its poetic dimension. He designs structures for homes that are not merely welcoming and functional, but which also become a refuge and space for the soul.

Archetypes

For Giuseppe Rivadossi, the place of being has a specific name: archetype, or literally "original image" in Greek. Without doubt, Rivadossi's creations have always had the spirit of the archetype, in other words the memory and meaning of the cosmos we inhabit.

Architecture
in wood

From 1980 onwards, Giuseppe Rivadossi concentrated on the architectural aspect of wooden structures, leaving more visionary solutions aside in order to regain an increasingly elegant mode of working, calibrated to the materials and dimensions of the structure in relation to its function. Structures are thus subjected to a process of decantation geared to obtaining an essential appearance that fully responds to the required functionality, while not neglecting the semantic value emblematic of Giuseppe Rivadossi's creative language.

Lightness
and light

Concerning space and environment, for Rivadossi the past two decades have marked a certain return to the origins, to the physicality of materials as the outstanding and primary characteristic of his work. The wood used in these pieces now has a vertical grain. This return to physicality is not a return to past experiences, but an effective evolution towards a transcendent lightness: substance and its strength are almost contained and sublimated with a few minimal touches, in the lightness of light. Substance becomes the light of everything.

The HABITO brand was created in 2013 by Emanuele and Clemente Rivadossi as part of an ongoing updating of Giuseppe's extensive experience. Today the brand is fully implementing this generational shift: the aim is to bring the legacy together in an intensely distinctive language and develop it in the home setting in a way that is increasingly suited to the demands of contemporary man, presenting not only individual sculptural pieces but also more complex and structured projects. The recent decision to enter into collaborations and partnerships with architecture and interior design studios is a move in this direction.
