The protagonist of a good night’s sleep and rest, a well-designed handcrafted wooden bed contributes to building happier spaces. From solid wood double beds to handcrafted designer beds, precious techniques, perfected over the years, are used to reinterpret them.   Just like the construction techniques created by Giuseppe Rivadossi and used in Habito’s workshop, at the service of the customer’s needs for ad hoc interventions and creations.

The surface finishes used allow the surface of the wood of the bed to be modelled, giving it a particular appearance and a specific tactile sensation. All our finishes are executed on the premises by hand, by our team of professionals.

Handcrafted wooden beds, Habito’s design

The individual and his or her well-being are at the heart of every good design project, even at night. Because sleeping well helps you live better. Precious techniques overlapping typological rediscoveries have reinvented the bed, the quintessence of rest, especially in the last decade. Habito’s handcrafted wooden beds are an authentic expression of this.

Four-poster bed with interlocking ash frame, finished by hand planing. Privet trees are inserted as posts in the corners.

The Letto del Bosco is a four-poster bed with an interlocking structure. Privet trees are inserted as posts into the corners. It is hand-finished on all sides by planing. The wood used for this piece is Ash, a forest wood that grows best in a temperate but humid climate. It has remarkable elasticity and resistance and its fibre is characterised by regular and evident grains.

Dell’Eremo is a bed with a solid wood plank structure. It is hand-finished on all sides by planing. The wood used for this piece is Juglans Regia – common Italian Walnut, not dried, but “raw”. This wood, which belongs to the Latin tradition of furniture-making, is characterised by a very compact fibre but at the same time can be worked without too much difficulty, and is therefore very suitable for making household structures.

Bed with a slatted frame, interlocking assembly. Sanded finish.

Bonanno is a bed with a solid wood plank structure, assembled using the interlocking technique. Over time the wood hardens and becomes extremely resistant, it slowly oxidises and takes on a progressively warmer amber colour.

Wood in the bedroom: furnish with our customised solutions

In addition to handcrafted wood, the main characteristics of Habito’s works are the formal design of the artefacts and the specific design related to the treatment of the material, with the construction from a single block of wood or through interlocking structures. In the former the action is that of “taking away” typical of the sculptor (who carves from the full block, finishing with the gouge; in the latter the method of “composition” is used to assemble the wood (or woods), creating interlocking structures.

Sleeping well with wooden furniture and beds is once again at the heart of the bedroom, a place that reconciles man with the earth thanks to the warmth of wood: contact us to make your handcrafted designer bed.
